As part of the Christmas holiday celebration, 90s girls band Luscious Jackson discussed their cover of “Let It Snow”, via their Substack (Dec 09, 2025).

Singer Jill Cunniff explained, “Our most well-known holiday track is our cover of “Let It Snow” for our Gap commercial from 1997. We appear in a studio video directed by photographer Mark Seliger. The set had a plain white background, like all the Gap ads. We wore a few pieces of Gap clothing for the shoot. We had a lot of fun, and no, we weren’t paid much money, but we did receive very large gift certificates to the store. When we were first approached to do the Gap ad, it took a minute to decide if it was “selling out” or not. Then, when we saw the Missy Elliott and Aerosmith Gap commercials, we said yes. If they were doing it, why not? It was a high-profile kind of exposure for the band, and we actually shot a few more “Let It Snow” videos.”

They were basically paid in Gap gift cards, each of them receiving $5,000 for any Gap clothing… which they happily bought Baby Gap clothes for their friends and family.

I just saw the delightful animation video for Lainey Wilson’s version of “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” … a duet with Bing Crosby. Much like Natalie Cole’s “Unforgettable” with her late father Nat King Cole and Kylie Minogue duet with Frank Sinatra on Kylie Christmas… the duet was done through the magic of audio editing. It is pretty cool to take existing recording and bringing some new life to the song and, I feel it helps bring Bing to a new generation of music lovers.

Although I found the animated video really lovely and fun… I have to point out that it clear looks like it’s an advertisement for Hersey’s Chocolate. That’s fine, it’s still adorable.

The song is taken from Wilson’s new EP, Peace, Love, & Cowboys (Holiday Edition), which came out Nov 21, 2025.
