Xmas25: Girls Girls Girls
Read more Christmas.
Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Australian popstar Kylie Minogue’s Kylie Christmas, we have a new re-issue called Kylie Christmas (Fully Wrapped) with four bonus tracks. It’s been selling really well, at least the Amazon exclusive version (which includes the exclusive song “Xmas”) is currently sold out. If you’re a vinyl collector, there’s a variety of different green and red transparent vinyls, I’m sure they’re also selling really well.
The other new tracks are: “Hot in December,” “Office Party,” and “This Time of Year.”
With Kylie Christmas, I find her original dance/pop songs are really good, particularly “Christmas Isn’t Christmas ‘Til You Get Here” and “100 Degrees” (with her hotter sister Dannii Minogue).
Her traditional covers are so-so. They’re not really adding much to the original recordings, take for example “Santa Baby”, you can just swap out for the original song by Eartha Kitt and it will just sound the same. I thought how they did the duet with the late Frank Sinatra for “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” sounded really seamless. If you didn’t know Sinatra died in 1998, you might have been fooled that the two were in the same studio, laughing it up.
If you already have the original Kylie Christmas, I think it’s worth picking up the new Kylie Christmas (Fully Wrapped) album. Especially if you can get it autographed by Kylie from her website. It’ll be a good excuse to listen to all the hits from a decade ago in current 2025 Christmas. And really, every year is a Kylie Christmas for some of us.
This is a The Pretty Reckless Christmas album, but for branding and recognition, they’re officially titling this as Taylor Momsen’s Pretty Reckless Christmas. If you didn’t know, Taylor Momsen is a (or was) an actress from How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Spy Kids 2. She’s been a full-time frontswoman for The Pretty Reckless since 2009.
For someone who listens to a lot of Christmas music for review, I have to admit, Taylor Momsen’s Pretty Reckless Christmas is really good! I like all the different music genre (country pop song “I Wanna Be Your Christmas Tree”, a blues song “Blues on Christmas”, and an alt-rock song “Christmas is Killing Me”). I think most of the songs are original (I think “Where Are You Christmas” was originally sung by her character in the Grinch movie).
My favorite is “I Wanna Be Your Christmas Tree”, a playful song full of sexual innuendos. I mean, how else can you interpret “I wanna be your Christmas tree, cover me in snow. Ho ho ho” or “stuff that turkey with your Pepperidge Farm, cover it in gravy and all your charm”. I think it’s pretty clever, and funny if you understand it.
Taylor Momsen’s Pretty Reckless Christmas is available now on Fearless Records.
Alternative rock musician Tracy Bonham is back with a holiday song, “Un-F*k This F*kt Up Christmas”. If you’ve never heard of Bonham, she’s famous for “Mother Mother”, a song that has the wonderful rageful lyrics: “I’m freezing, I’m starving, I’m bleeding to death – everything’s fine!!” The song was covered by various artists, including The Veronicas in 2007.
The song is obviously a reflection of how Bonham feel about the current political climate. Bonham sums it up, “it’s a f**ked Christmas.” Let’s hope it’s all a dream or a hoax. But sadly, the reality is, we’re f*** this Christmas.

Winner of Netflix’s Building the Band, the all-girls trio 3Quency (Brianna Mazzola, Nori Moore and Wennely Quezada) released a holiday song “This Christmas”.
Why cover the Donny Hathaway song? Brianna said, “‘This Christmas’ has always held a special place in my heart. I can’t think of the holidays without hearing Donny Hathaway’s voice in my mind, or remembering those nights gathered around the table for the Feast of the Seven Fishes with my whole family. Those moments shaped so many of my favorite holiday memories. As I grew older, discovering new renditions of the song by artists and groups I love only deepened its magic. It’s always inspired me, and this year we thought it would be meaningful and fun to make it our own. I’m truly grateful to share that 3Quency has taken a heartfelt swing at this holiday classic. We hope it brings you as much joy and warmth as it’s brought us.”
Nori and Wennely also adds that they just wanted to put their own spin to the song.
If you have a 2025 Christmas/Holiday song, please provide as much detail as possible to vu@weheartmusic.com before Christmas Day (December 25, 2025). Thank you.
