We caught New York’s Moon Hooch on their very first Minneapolis appearance in 2013, when they were “discovered” by They Might Be Giants. TMBG loved their explosive horns-and-percussion

I’ll never forget the first time I saw Moon Hooch open up for They Might Be Giants in June 2013. They were nothing like you would expect, with their dueling saxophones and raw explosive horns-and-percussion music.

By the time we saw them again at the now-defunct Triple Rock Social Club in October 2016, the group had established a rabid fanbase in the Twin Cities area. Some discovered them through TMBG, but surprisingly many discover this group via YouTube and through word-of-mouth.
