Alvvays
with Slow Pulp
at First Avenue

first-avenue.com

After a long five year wait, the Toronto quintet Alvvays is back, touring in support of their new album Blue Rev (Polyvinyl).

We last saw the band at First Avenue in Nov 2017 and wrote, “We’ve “always” liked Alvvays, going back to Nov 2014, when we discussed how great their single, “Archie, Marry Me”… which the band made sure they play near the end of their First Avenue set.”

Slow Pulp to open.

at The Fitzgerald Theater

It’s the second night of celebrating They Might Be GiantsFlood. The Saturday show will take place at the Fitzgerald in St Paul.

>>>

“Why is the world in love again? Why are we walking hand-in-hand? Why are the ocean levels rising up?
It’s brand new record for 1990. They Might be Giants’ brand new album: Flood”

Two years in the making, the 30th Anniversary of Flood is finally making its way to Minneapolis, after announcing and rescheduling originally in July 2020 and June 2021. The show was long sold out for the last two years…

Flood is TMBG’s finest hour. Every song is wonderful, and the record does contain their hit single, “Birdhouse in Your Soul”. Expect a sing along…. to every song.

King Princess
with St. Panther
at Palace Theatre

first-avenue.com

King Princess is on her “The Hold On Baby Tour”, stopping by the Palace Theatre in St Paul on October 15th.

We saw King Princess in Jan 2022 and wrote, “A longer-than-usual delay between acts due to some equipment issues unfortunately cut the anticipated set from King Princess down to a mere twenty minutes, “Sorry, I’m late” singer-songwriter and bandleader Mikaela Straus apologized. Fans were quickly forgiving and happy to hear the set opening brand new single “Little Bother”, a collaboration with NY soul singer Fousheé followed by “For My Friends”, both being a taste of the upcoming record due out later this year, a follow up to the highly successful 2019 debut, Cheap Queen. Their 2018 second single “Talia” addressed a love lost, set to a Kate Bush-like drum rhythm and things would end with their debut breakout single, “1950”- an ode to both queer love and the related seminal Patricia Highsmith novel, The Price of Salt.”
