Tegan and Sara

The innovative, multi-platinum Canadian duo Tegan and Sara is currently on tour, in support of their graphic novel Junior High (with artwork from Eisner Award-winner Tillie Walden), plus Crybaby (which came out last year on Mom+Pop Music). We actually tried to see the sisters when they were promoting Crybaby in November 2022, but unfortunately that show and tour were cancelled. This upcoming September 12th show is a makeup for the cancellation.

We love T&S, having seen them several times. The last time, at Fitzgerald Theater in St Paul on Oct 2019: “Between each song, the Tegan and Sara read excerpts from their memoir and showed some home videos. It’s to show us that, they’re “just like us”, that they came from humble beginning. Everything is laid out here, from their first taste of music (discovering a guitar under the staircase) to discovering their sexual awakening.”

Carlie Hanson to open. We saw her in Mar 2023 and said, “Carlie Hanson walked on stage to the “That 70’s Show” theme song by Todd Griffin (which is based on Big Star’s “In the Streets”). This is important, because the show and theme song is all about “still rockin’ in Wisconsin” and it’s certainly the theme to her new album Wisconsin… which recently dropped on March 10, 2023.”

UK’s Yard Act is on their debut headlining US tour, and the first stop is at the Fine Line Music Café in Minneapolis, this September 13.

This is one of the hottest UK band at the moment, with praises for their album The Overload by The Guardian, the Sunday Times, NME, Uncut, and many others.

Chicago’s Stuck to open. The band is fronted by former Yeesh and Clearance member Greg Obis. Stuck recently released their new LP Freak Frequency via Born Yesterday.

Nigeria’s Bombino is doing a 2023 tour, kicking off at the Cedar Cultural Center, in Minneapolis on September 13, 2023.

We caught the band in Jun 2022 and wrote, “Gates opened at 1pm, and first band on the main stage was Niger’s internationally acclaimed Tuareg guitarist and singer/songwriter Bombino (Omara Moctar). The hot weather of Minneapolis’ afternoon reminded the band of their home country, Niger.”
