The Pride celebration taking place this weekend, including Saloon Pride Block Party taking place Friday to Sunday, and Twin Cities Pride Festival taking place on Saturday and Sunday, it was a little bit of a nightmare trying to find parking. Still, it was fun to see so the LGBTQ+ community out in full force on Friday night at Xana’s headlining show at 7th Street Entry, in Minneapolis.

Los Angeles’ Dezi opened the show. She’s joined by drummer Rami, who already broke a drum stick, indicating that it’s going to be a wild time.

Sadly, it was Dezi’s last night on the Xana tour, so it was a little bitter sweet for the ending show… however, she’s staying in Minneapolis for another day to play Pride Stoplight Party at the Fillmore on Saturday night.

Songs on Dezi’s set included “Boba”, a song that was written after a harassment on the subway for her Boba Tea.

Highlight of the set was a duet with singer/songwriter Libby Larkin, Dezi’s partner, for “If You Still Need Me”.

Vancouver-based rising pop artist Xana, with a full band featuring the two Liams (Liam McLaren and Liam Moes) and Jess Jones on drums, closed out the night. She’s been enjoying success with the 13m+ streams of “Goddess”, as well as touring with Fletcher, and gaining fans by word of mouth.

The young audience knew all of Xana’s songs, often singing and dancing to all the songs, including “Body” and “Love Like This”.

Xana was clearly excited to be playing in the middle of the Minneapolis Pride weekend (you get the impression that they had no idea when they book the venue).

Lots of songs from the new album The Sex Was Good Until It Wasn’t (including the title track saved as the song finale).

After the USA tour is over, Xana will be a full headlining Canadian tour, starting in September and ending in Rocktober.
