Opening the show was Irish singer Darren Kiely, currently based in the USA. We wanted to check out the folk singer/songwriter since he headlined the 7th Street Entry in January 2024, but couldn’t break our hibernation.
Kiely confessed that most of his songs are of the sad nature, except he did have one happy song called “Ocean”, which had an upbeat, loud chorus.
For his song, “Mum and Dad”, he introduced it as a song about chasing your dreams. Being a singer and touring and meeting fans, that was Kiely’s dream, and his parents encouraged him live that dream.
Nashville’s singer, songwriter Mat Kearney closed out the night. The singer is touring in support of his latest self-titled album from Middle Kid Records. The album includes the buoyant single “Palisades”, which was played early in the set.

We previously saw Mat Kearney in Oct 2016 and wrote, “Another familiar face to the area is Oregon native and Nashville-based singer-songwriter Mat Kearney, who took a break from creation of the follow up to last year’s Just Kids (Republic Records), to join the Tour de Compadres. Kearney’s generous fifty-minute set was testament to his own headlining potential in a venue this size and he made the most of his time. With a band that included Minneapolis resident Tyler Burkum on guitar (ex-Audio Adrenaline, Leagues) , Kearney’s set sounded robust and much more electronic and full sounding, than his initial folk singer-songwriter vibe. Before ‘Nothing Left to Lose’, Kearney feigned a quick verse of ‘Purple Rain’ before quickly discarding it, admitting he’s never played the song before, then redeemed himself by declaring us the “coolest cold city” in America.”
