Ron Pope
with Andrea von Kampen
at Turf Club

first-avenue.com

Nashville-based platinum recording artist Ron Pope is currently on tour in support of his forthcoming album American Man, American Music. The album is set for release on February 14, 2025, via Brooklyn Basement Records. In the meantime, you can preview the new single “Mama Drove A Mustang” now.

Andrea von Kampen to open. We saw her in Mar 2024 and wrote, “Andrea von Kampen closed out the night. She brought with her violinist Jessica and cellist Nyssa (the bassist for Minneapolis’ The Foxgloves), who flanked her on the left and right of the stage. They played a lot of new songs, including the title track for Sister Moon, which started the set. The album was a departure from her previous record label Fantasy Records, von Kampen explained the situation, “When making this new album over a year ago I had no clue how the release would end up feeling. My team had fallen apart suddenly due to circumstances out of my control and I was left making an independent record in a way I hadn’t planned for. It was stressful🙃. I went into the studio day after day and slowly the pieces started to rebuild themselves. In a lot of ways this album helped to remind me why I started making music in the first place.””

Ax and the Hatchetmen
with Easy Honey
at 7th St Entry

first-avenue.com

Chicago-based indie rock sextet Ax and the Hatchetmen will be headlining the 7th St Entry on February 22, 2025.

Easy Honey to open. We saw the band in Oct 2023 and said, “Easy Honey closed out the night. Originally the band came from Sewanee, Tennessee, but currently they’re based in Charleston, South Carolina. They draw inspirations from bands like The Kinks, The Replacements, and Radiohead. Looking over their setlist, they had a few songs from their self-titled debut album from 2018, but mixes in a lot of new songs, like the intro “Orbiter”, which is brand new. They have two singers (both guitarists), Selby Austin and Darby McGlone, who takes lead vocals depending on the song. The rest of the band includes drummer Charlie Holt and bassist Daniel Comen.”
