The Australian rock royalty kings are back and still powered up!
Music legends and Rock Hall of Fame inductees AC/DC have returned to the road (with a seemingly healed singer Brian Johnson) and are playing the United States for the first time in nine years on their 2025 Power Up North American Tour!
The band’s ongoing tour is brief though (with one show every four days), playing just 13 stadiums from coast-to-coast for this leg, which follows their most recent show, playing last summer in Dublin to end their UK/Ireland Tour. The tour shares its name with their 2020 album, “Power Up”, which entered charts at #1 in 21 countries.
The album was their third #1 debut on the Billboard 200 and garnered Grammy® Award nominations for “Best Rock Album” and “Best Rock Performance” and “Best Music Video” for “Shot In The Dark.”
AC/DC was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame® in 2003 and their “Back in Black” album alone, has sold more than fifty-million copies and is the third best-selling album of all time.
The current lineup is Angus Young on lead guitar, vocalist Brian Johnson, rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, drummer Matt Laug and bass player Chris Chaney and US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis was the first US stop of the tour.
The setlist and staging was mostly similar to reports from last summer’s shows (FYI, inflatable ‘Rosie’ has been replaced by an on-screen version, so is not so ‘whole lotta’) and the band remains musically powerful and masters of the three-chord riffs.
NYC Hard rockers The Pretty Reckless opened the evening with a fifty-three-minute set, seemingly overdue for a follow-up to 2021’s “Death by Rock and Roll” but opening for the headliners over basically the last year, has made them focus on their live shows instead.
Singer-guitarist Taylor Momsen and guitarist Ben Phillips have been making music together almost two decades, and the band is rounded out by bassist Mark Damon and drummer Jamie Perkins.
