Fête de la Musique (World Music Day) is back in 2025, thanks to Alliance Française Mpls/St Paul (AFMSP). Each year, France, and other parts of the world, celebrate their World Music Day on the longest day of the year.

So join AFMSP as they celebrate their 50th Anniversary at the Utepils Brewery.

Bands on the lineup:

  • Said Abdelli

His bio lists “grew up in Paris, vacationed in Spain as a kid, and lives in Minneapolis.”

  • Greenvale Manitou (aka Cedric)
Fuses World music with popular Western genre.

  • Chico Chavez
The 10-piece Chico Chavez Orchestra features Cumbia Afro-indigenous Tropical music from throughout Latin America, and Peruvian psychedelic Cumbia Chicha. Created and directed by Master percussionist-drummer Chico Chavez from Lima, Peru

July 14, 2025 Monday
Bastille Day
at Alliance Française
afmsp.org

Also worth noting is that AFMSP is putting together Bastille Day on July 14th, 2025. This National Holiday celebrates the spark of the French revolution at Bastille prison. The event will take place at Alliance Française headquarter.

Live music includes:

  • The Francine Roche Trio (vocals by Francine Roche, Mark Stillman on accordion, and Jim Price on violin)
  • Siengkane Lao MN (collective of Lao refugees and immigrants residing in the USA)
  • Ye Ye Pow (inspired by ye-ye music, features Stephanie Winter of Mere Kats, Terry Isaacsen of Flamin Ohs, Paul McFarland of Run Westy Run, and Steve Kent of Kinda Kinky)

If music isn’t your thing, you can also register to race as a waiter (while carrying a plate of food) on their “Course de Garçons de Café”! Sounds like a lot of fun to watch.

If your band is coming to the Minneapolis/St Paul area, please email details to vu@weheartmusic.com with a good lead time. Thank you.
