Remarkable Paper Move (2025)
As an owner of the Remarkable Paper Pro since October 2024, I can say it is great for reading full color comic books on its large canvas (11.8 inches). The RPP was designed as a reader, and also as a note-taking device. Personally speaking, I don’t think it works as a notepad, because it’s so large and heavy.

So, the Remarkable company came out with the Remarkable Paper Move (RPM), which is a mini-RPP. The new device is 7.3 inches and can fit in your pocket. It has everything the RPP offers (including the Gallery 3 Color e-ink screen), but only smaller and portable. This very expensive pocket notepad is $500, comes bundled with a pen.

If you like taking notes and maybe want to use it as a pocket e-reader, this could be a great device for you. It’s definitely not a device for me, as I have a phone that I can easily take notes on, plus I can read emails and do so much more on a phone that costs as much as a RPM.

All the drawbacks of the RPP, is present in this new device. If you didn’t know, the Remarkable is very limited. It can only read PDF or ePub, and nothing else. It doesn’t have email or a web browser. You can’t buy eBooks (there’s no apps, no Kindle). It is slow (compared to a modern tablet or phone) and you still need to pay $3 a month to cloud sync (a basic feature that should be free).

Plus, with the early 2025 update, my RPP no longer accepts very large PDF files (anything above 300MB has problems transferring to my reader).

Vu’s Remarkable Paper Pro

Don’t get me wrong, I still love my RPP, it’s still the best product that I use to read my comic books (if I can get the PDF to transfer), and I love sketching on it. Imagine doing that on a smaller mini-version, especially with the ability to take it with you wherever you go. There’s a lot to like about a portable version.

If you can afford it, I’d would just recommend spending a little more and buying the larger Paper Pro. If you need something with you all the time, the RPM is cool… but, again, why not use your phone for the same purpose?

P.S. Remember the next generation of e-Ink technology called Spectra 6? We’re starting to see them as digital photo frames, with this HUESSEN ePaper for $329. Don’t be deceived that it’s listed at 13.3 inches. Technically it is that large, but I wouldn’t count the white borders. To me, the screen looks to be an 8-inch display. Still, as a digital photo frame that is capable of producing rich images, it’s still very cool. I want to buy it and put on some George Perez art, or something that you wouldn’t normally see as “fine art”. I actually don’t know if the company will allow you to upload your own artwork through their app, I still need to do a little research before buying this.
