■ Asian Night Market
Asian Night Market is Jacksonville’s Asian Night Market for a delightful culinary experience. Our bi-monthly event features an extensive array of authentic Asian dishes that highlight the rich flavors of the Philippines, Thailand, Korea, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

We haven’t attended Asian Night Market since March 2026, and I guess a few things have changed since we last saw the event at RD International Market. In that last entry, I complained that we couldn’t find parking and, in addition, temporarily illegally parked. So when they said that they were holding June’s event at Central Park at RiversEdge (sort of nearby Artist Walk Skate Park)… we decided to head down there on Saturday, June 27, to check it out.

When we left at 6pm, we looked at the sky and it had dark clouds. The weather app said there was only a 20% chance of rain, so we started driving. Then it started raining. Like thunderstorm raining. By the time we got down to the area, it was pouring rain, and the rain kept going. We check the weather app and it noted that users were posting at 6:18pm that it started raining. The latest information said that it won’t stop until 8pm.

We did eventually found parking, and sat in the car. Basically, it came to a vote that we didn’t want to spend sitting around in the car for one hour… and wasn’t brave enough to stand in the rain with umbrellas.

We gave it the college try, but it just didn’t work out.

I was told later that it did stop raining around 8pm, and they continued the festivities with some Polynesian Dance. Included is a photo of the dance… wish we had the patience to wait out the rain. Maybe next time.

P.S. Parking is not a problem for this area, because there is a large free under the bridge parking area.
