Still ‘breaking the cycle’ a quarter-century later,
Staind’s 2026 Tour is a summer into fall run that celebrates the 25th Anniversary of their breakthrough album, Break the Cycle, the 2001 album that catapulted the Springfield, MA band from a regional post-grunge act, into one of the country’s biggest bands.
With support from Seether, Hoobastank, and Hinder, this was one anniversary worth celebrating.
Since it was new to us, a bit about the venue-
Thunder Ridge Nature Arena, a decade in planning, development, and construction, is located in the Ozarks just a few miles from Branson, in Ridgedale, MO, and very near the Arkansas state line.
Bass Pro Shops Founder, Johnny Morris owns the 18-20,000 capacity venue which sits on 1,200 acres near Table Rock Lake and Boston Mountain and also contains his Big Cedar Lodge golf resort.
A luxury box called “The Veteran’s Tower” rises twelve stories high from the Ozark limestone and dolomite earth and four of its floors contains VIP suites with bedrooms for unobstructed views of the stage and nature sight lines.
That said on a rainy day as the concert was, in a venue that has no canopy, it could be a little tricky in places.
Some of the natural stairs were uneven and slippery with minimal handrails and the reserved seats seemed less sloped than in similar venues, perhaps because of the natural angle of the hill it was built on.
=====
While Staind has never been a highly energetic band, their headlining set proved why the band remains a solid headliner, and the lightning, sound mix, and visuals were all outstanding.
All the hits that people knew the chorus and more to, roared with volume over the landscape as everyone sang along. Though it is the anniversary of Break the Cycle, the band did not perform the record in full, which was ok, as it left time for their other hits.
Especially touching was “Something to Remind You” which the band used as a tribute to friends and fallen rock stars, with images (like Dimebag from Pantera and his brother, Vinnie Paul) shown on-screen as the band sang, and guitarist Mike Mushok was in top form all night.
A strong encore began with everyone singing to their ballad, “It’s Been a While” and ended heavy with a crushing, “Mudshovel.”
Seether, the South African band whose latest full-length was 2024’s The Surface Seems So Far, always puts on a great live show, and the night was no exception. The band realizes the primary reason they and their fans are there, is to play and hear the music, so they don’t spend time talking to the audience or wasting time.
Able to work in eleven songs in their limited time, their set felt like a good ‘bang for the buck’ and is a great example of ‘less talk, more rock.’

Hoobastank is the Agora Hills CA band hasn’t put out a full-length since 2018’s Push Pull but still continues regular touring and still plays with a lot of energy. Three of four members are original co-founders, and vocalist Doug Robb’s banter with the crowd, seemed friendly and sincere.

Hinder is the Oklahoma City band that opened the show, in support of their 2025 album, Back to Life (first full-length in seven years) …which the band kind of is. The group has had some upheaval and stop-starts, but lead guitarist Joe “Blower” Garvey returned in 2021 and the band’s singer, Marshal Dutton has been with them over a decade, so the lineup changes have settled down.
Maybe due to the weather elements or not enough time to set the sound mix, Dutton’s vocals for their short opening set, seemed a bit buried by the instruments, with the bass guitar in particular, overwhelming all else. The crowd was especially excited during their 2006 hit, “Lips of an Angel” which went Top 3 on the US Rock Charts (and #1 in New Zealand and Australia!).
