Remember November: Elliott Smith and Orange Juice

REMEMBERING ELLIOTT SMITH
Remember Elliot Smith with An Introduction to… Elliott Smith, a semi-greatest hits compilation, released November 2nd on Kill Rock Stars. This is a great start for anyone wondering what all the fuss was about with Smith’s suicide. Sure, Smith was depressing, but he’s got some optimistic songs too. If you pick up the release, check out the 180 gram LP, which comes with a limited poster.

Songs compiled from his seven albums: Roman Candle, Elliott Smith, Either/Or, XO, Figure 8, From A Basement on the Hill, and New Moon.

JUICY BOXSET
Remember Orange Juice ? They have a boxset coming out November 22nd called Coals To Newcastle, and Domino Records is giving “Felicity” as a complimentary download. They also noted that it’s Morrissey’s all time favorite Orange Juice song.

The seven-disc set (six CD and one DVD) is available for pre-order for $60 (£45 for UK), and I’m sure would make a great stocking stuffer for the early 1980 Scottish music fan (Stuart Murdoch probably ordered two copies.)
