Gorillaz

I’m not going to lie, I love me some Gorillaz-action. Being a fan of Blur and Tank Girl and Dan the Automator, it was only natural that I fell in love with this cartoon band’s first single, “Clint Eastwood”…

The popular Gorillaz (Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett) will be headlining the The Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St Paul in support of their new album Humanz.

Be sure to show up extra early to check out multimedia performance artist turned rapper and producer, Zebra Katz, who recently shared his single ‘Blk & Wht’ (produced by Kashaka) with NOWNESS.

It’s obvious that both Damon and Jamie are big fans of Zebra Katz, who thought he would be a great addition to their Humanz world tour.

English singer/songwriter Alison Moyet (formerly of the duo Yazoo), is one of Britain’s bestselling singer (over 23 million album sold). She’s currently in the United States to promote her ninth album Other, which came out earlier this year on Cooking Vinyl.

Regarding the album, Moyet explains, “For me, making a record at this age, lyrically, is a different proposition. Observation in most cases replaces emotion. The invisibility of middle/aged woman rather thrills me and instead I watch… Subject matter covers what you might expect from a pop album. Dyslexia, locked-out syndrome, diversity, Persephone, doggedness and the Internet. Always asked what a song is about, I attempted to cooperate, but in truth though the lyrics incorporated my best attempt to describe what I see and of the meaning that is mine. I want, who chooses to, to find their own landscape or indeed none. Some of us have always felt ‘Other’. I no longer wish it were otherwise.”
