Man, I love The Kills. I love VV’s voice, and I love Hotel’s guitar work. The two are just unbeatable.
The British/American duo will be touring in support of their 2023 album God Games, available on Domino Records.

The Kills (03 June 2014)
|
We saw The Kills in 03 June 2014 and said, “Alison Mosshart (aka “VV”) stormed across the stage with so much attitude that you almost had to take a step back. She is a tall, slender, drop dead gorgeous woman with such an amazing set a pipes on her that she almost seemed too good to be true. She was mesmerizing to watch as she moved to the music. She had the crowd completely captivated by her movements and her gorgeous voice. There were a few brief moments where she would go to the back of the stage for a sip of water or to sit for a minute but even then, I couldn’t take my eyes off her. Her presence was just something that you cannot put into words. and it truly took my breath away. Her male counterpart, Jamie Hince (aka “Hotel”), was just as entertaining as he played the guitar with so much passion that it was clear he was loving being on stage and playing.”
The Paranoyds to open. The band previously headlined the Fine Line in October 2022.

I’m With Her: Sara Jarosz (01 Mar 2018)
|
We saw Sara Jarosz, as part of the supergroup I’m With Her, in 01 Mar 2018 and said, “Each of the ladies was very familiar and thankful to be playing at the venue, Watkins a founding member of Nickle Creek, O’Donovan with string quartet Crooked Still, and Jarosz in her own right, and each took turns at lead vocals (i.e. Jarosz on ‘Walkin’ Back to Georgia’), with the trio’s harmonies soaring to the historic theater’s rafters, an ideal venue for their sound. Musically, each was formidable in their own right, moving from acoustic guitars to electrics to banjos and mandolins, with Watkins also masterful at textures with her violin. O’Donovan’s vocals lit up ‘Ryland’ which started as delicate as a butterfly then flew confidently with wings by its end.”

Ballroom Thieves (13 Oct 2022)
|
The Ballroom Thieves to open. We saw them in 13 Oct 2022 and noted, “We saw The Ballroom Thieves in May 2015, and mentioned, “The Ballroom Thieves, on their second appearance in Minneapolis (previously also billed at Byrant-Lake Bowl), was pleased to see that the room was full this time around. Drummer Devin Mauch, who is celebrating his birthday today (May 14th), said that they originally didn’t have Minneapolis on their tour itinerary, but they made the extra effort to put the city back on their schedule. Thanks to word of mouth, there was a really good turn out for the show… especially on a Wednesday.””

Matthew Sweet, with Gary Louris (10 July 2015)
|
We saw Matthew Sweet in 10 July 2015 and said, “Over at the PreferredOne Stage was Matthew Sweet with a full band: Paul Chastain on bass, Dennis Taylor on lead guitars, and Ric Menck on drums. The Sweet set was a real treat, with about half his set taken from his breakout 1991 Girlfriend album, including the title track, ‘Evangeline’, and ‘I’ve Been Waiting’.
The real highlight on his hour-long set was when Sweet invited The Jayhawks’ Gary Louris on stage to help jam out and provided backing vocals to the last four songs: ‘Divine Intervention’, “I’ve Been Waiting’, ‘Girlfriend’, and ‘Sick Of Myself’.”
Abe Partridge to open.
