We last saw her in Oct 2015 and wrote, “As expected, Rachael Yamagata previewed some brand new songs from her forthcoming 2016 album. From what I’ve heard live, especially with the six-piece band (including Brandon & Anne), the new songs has a nice full ‘wall of sound’ feel to it, compared to her previous live efforts of mostly a girl and her piano.”

We last saw Tank and The Bangas in Oct 2018 and wrote, “Tank and the Bangas closed out the night. It’s weird, but in many ways, seeing the band at Minnesota State Fair 2017, it almost like seeing two completely different bands! Now Tarriona “Tank” Ball, armed with a large live band, including a Norman Spence on bass, THREE keyboard players (Joe Johnson, Merell Burkett, and unknown band member), guitarist Danny Abel, Joshua Johnson on drums, a two-piece horns section (Albert Allenback on alto saxophone and Etienne Stoufflet on tenor saxophone) and two backup singers (Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph and Kayla Buggage), Tank and the Bangas’ new 2018 show is just wild, upbeat, and dance/party focus, with a little slam poetry thrown in.”

The Utah-via-Hawaii group The Moss is back in town. They’ll be headlining the Amsterdam Bar & Hall, in St Paul, on October 19, 2024.

We last saw The Moss in May 2023 and wrote, “Unfortunately, first night of the tour, they already had technical difficulties with their guitar amp, which had dead air after the first song, “Secretariat”. This moment had singer Tyke James calling for bassist Caiden Jackson to start a book reading as a joke. After getting a replacement amp from The Hails’ guitarist, Addison Sharp was ready to continue their set. We’ve seen enough first night of the tour to understand these kinds of things are almost expected to happen. Hopefully the rest of the tour will happen without a hitch.”
