We’re recovering from our Rocktober coverage (and gearing up for Snowember), so let’s take a look at what our Italian partner Kalporz are up to. It seemed like they’re in the middle of Bologna Jazz Festival, which spans from October 9 to November 16, 2025, in the city of Bologna, Italy. That city sits north of Florence and San Marino, and south of Milan and Venice. It seems like one of those middle-city.
Glasgow’s Liam Shortall, under his stagename corto.alto headlined Locomotiv Club, on October 24, 2025, as part of the Bologna Jazz Festival umbrella.
George Lamonica writes, “Corto.alto is not just a jazz musician; he is a real sound architect who is helping to redefine the boundaries of the genre. His approach is so innovative that he pushes jazz into a visceral fusion with other musical genres, creating what is rightly called Future Jazz.”
Opening the show was Italian band Orange Combutta (Orange Fight). They are described as “an unconventional collective.”
