According to a recent reddit thread: Arcade1Up is Shutting Down.
Arcade1Up is closing operations. For the majority of us, our last day is this coming Friday [December 12, 2025].
I cannot speak to the future of the brand, it is not my place to share what might be next and whom will be in charge of it.
I do not know the plans for the arcade systems or the Infinity Tables. I believe they will continue to operate as they currently do, but I do not know for certain.
As the Weekend Gamer, I have to mention that before Arcade1Up, there was no affordable means of owning your personal arcade machine. Real arcade machines are thousands of dollars and requires constant maintenance, so getting one for $300, that was a dream-come-true. I bought a Street Fighter II Arcade1Up for full retail price at Walmart in November 2018 and then added a riser for $50.
I didn’t love it that the artwork can be rubbed off, but they solved this by selling or adding a clear acrylic overlay to protect the artwork. Overall, I thought it was decent for the price. I bought three more cabinets because they were on clearance: Asteroid ($200, which I lost during my move), Pac-Man ($75), and Galaga ($75). I guess, I love these Arcade1Up machine, but I did not feel they are worth $300 or more.
That’s the problem – at least for me. Their prices have steadily gone up and up. The minimum base cabinet is $500, and special controllers costing $600 (Terminator 2 for the light gun or Golden Tee Deluxe)… leaving only the countercade (bartop) to be the only affordable Arcade1Up options at $150. In fact, the Marvel Super Heroes Countercade was the last Arcade1Up item that I purchased in 2024.
Besides from the high prices of Arcade1Up that made me give up on collecting them, but the fact that they take up so much space (I don’t have the room) and that you can’t upgrade or add new games (or optional hardware upgrades) to these cabinets… forces you to buy new cabinets.
Honestly, I’m not surprised that Arcade1Up is shutting down, just based on my personal feeling that they are not affordable. Of course, I’m not happy that now AtGames won’t have a competitor. I don’t want them to have a monopoly over the home arcade market, because I hate their DRM restriction (I can’t play games I bought from AtGames without logging in). I also think that AtGames’ full-sized pinball ($1700) and arcade ($900) are just way too expensive.
