Salad – Party
I finally finished my Vox banner! I decided to add some flowers in the background to make it a little more interesting.
So I should probably explain that the model used for the banner is Marijne van der Vlugt, model/singer of Salad.
Nobody took Salad seriously because the singer was a super model and she did not write any of the songs.
I have no idea where Salad is nowadays (they broke up and I know Marijne joined another band but I can’t be bothered to do the research right now).
The thing to note about “Party” is that lovely growl she does….
Thanks for the invite guys. 1994 was a splendid year for music, and Salad’s ‘Drink The Elixir’ was a fabulous single (might have been ’95). Britpop threw up plenty of half-baked crap but there’s just enough good stuff to warrant some kind of nostalgia. I think it was the phenomenon as much as the music itself that people got swept up in. Personally it felt like a second teenage (the first being circa punk). I’ve still got piles of old NMEs and Melody Makers from those days. I read elsewhere in this group that someone described the present day NME as the musical equivalent of the Sun. I remember when it was the musical equivalent of the Guardian, and almost as big and flappy!
Thanks. I just recently joined vox.com…. so everything is new to me. I just posted a picture of my DVD collection – among them some good music DVDs, so maybe I will post some rare videos sometime.
You’re into indie and britpop? Dig it! Dig the banner, too. Thanks for the making me notice the britpop group. I just joined it – ’tis my first… Yeah, I do like how Marijne growls…
