Speaking of Sweden…
This is perhaps the sexiest album cover art I’ve seen in a long time. You get this feeling of a hot Summer’s night at a bar or a club in New York… these two girls are with friends and just very casually whispering some secret to each other.
In case you’re wondering, the cover girl on the left is Leigh Lezard, a DJ at a scenester’s club called MisShapes. The girl on the right is Alexis Page, who is apparently a Morrissey fan judging from her “Certain People I Know” quote.
By the way, Maja Ivarsson, the singer of The Sounds, is the photographer of this photo.
Oh… maybe I should talk about The Sounds. They’re from Helsingbor, Sweden and are often compared to Blondie.
They have two albums: Living in America (Nov 2002) and Dying to Say This to You (Mar 2006). From their debut title, they seem to like America. They’ve spent a lot of time touring and promoting their music in the USA, largely ignoring their neighbor, the United Kingdom. In fact, the UK never got Living… and Dying… was only recently released in the UK (whereas the US had this CD for over a year now.)
With the release of their album in the UK, they are currently on a long tour to promote it.
