The Lumineers

The Lumineers only have one record, a self titled LP, released back on April 3rd 2012, so they basically played almost the entire album. The band threw in a Bob Dylan cover, a Taking Heads cover .…

Soak

Irish kid Soak (aka Bridie Monds-Watson and not to be confused with Texas band Soak) has been drawing comparisons to Cat Power to Laura Marling to Beach

THE LUMINEERS

at Roy Wilkins Auditorium

Due to overwhelming demand, The Lumineers’ Myth show has been upgraded to The Legendary Roy Wilkins Auditorium in Saint Paul. All previously purchased tickets must be exchanged for new tickets at no additional cost.

Personally speaking, they should have seen it coming, as the group previously headlined a much larger Target Center in 2013 (which was quite an upgrade from their 7th Street Entry in 2012).

The Lumineers’ latest Cleopatra is out now.

Ireland’s Soak and Richmond’s Sleepwalkers to open. Sleepwalkers’ debut album Greenwood Shade is out now.

The Pack A.D.

We are covering Canada’s The Pack A.D. at the Turf Club next Wednesday. Local band Fury Things are set to open the show.
Expect the duo to play tracks from their new album Do Not Engage

THE PACK A.D.

at Turf Club

Tuesday, 06/14/16, 7:30pm ($12)

What has your favorite Vancouver garage rock duo The Pack A.D. been up to since we last left them? After a year touring and celebrating the success of their fifth studio album, Do Not Engage (one of my top 10 of 2014!) and a few terrible months of silence from the band, music has finally been presented to us in the form of a vicious new single — and a new record.

Back in April the band surprised fans with “So What” and it’s unsettling music video that shows lead singer/guitarist Becky Black being abducted by aliens! The appropriately titled full-length Positive Thinking will drop sometime in August.

In the meantime, catch The Pack A.D. on their upcoming mini-US tour that kicks off in Chicago. They will be making a stop at the Turf Club on Tuesday, June 14th with bad-ass local punks Kitten Forever opening!

Tour Dates:

6.13 Chicago, IL The Empty Bottle *

6.14 St. Paul, MN Turf Club *

6.21 Spokane, WA The Bartlett

6.22 Portland, OR Doug Fir Lounge

6.23 Seattle, WA The Tractor Tavern

Kevin Morby

Kansas City native Kevin Morby, who plays in Vivian Girls side project The Babies, as well as is the bassist for Woods, opened with a 40 min. pensive set of songs

KEVIN MORBY

Tuesday, 06/14/16, 8pm ($12)

first-avenue.com

Former bassist for Woods and frontman of The Babies, Kevin Morby is back with his third solo album Singing Saw, out now on Dead Oceans Records.

We previously saw Morby in 2014 and wrote, “Most of the set was similarly mid-tempo’d and intimate in their storytelling lyrics, with Cate LeBon herself guesting on stage midway through, on “Slow Train”, reprising their duet from the record.”

Touring with Morby is Brooklyn’s Jaye Bartell, in support of his new LP Light Enough.

Tour Dates:

06/08 – Seattle, WA – Tractor Tavern *

06/10 – Salt Lake City, UT – Kilby Court *

06/11 – Denver, CO – Larimer Lounge *

06/12 – Kansas City, MO – Riot Room *

06/14 – Minneapolis, MN – 7th St. Entry *

06/15 – Chicago, IL – Schubas *
