FUNKO

Funko, the pop culture manufacturer responsible for a billion vinyl figures and bobbleheads, have recently unveiled a Morrissey Funko Pop Figure, as part of their line of Pop! Rocks figures, at the London Toy Fair. The figure will be available in stores around July 2019.

Of course, like many of you, I own a few Funko items, mostly buying for some characters that I collect. I’m definitely buy one or two of the Morrissey Funko figure to add to my collection. Knowing Funko’s track record, I can tell you that they probably will release variant version of the Morrissey Funko figure… and I’ll buy them all! Can’t wait for the all-black version.

Note: The figure is pending approval from the license holder.

DEADLY CLASS
syfy.com

Are you guys watching Deadly Class on SyFy? The comic book-based television show was meant for 2019, but we got a preview of the pilot in December 2018.

Anyway, in a party scene in episode 2, gangster Willie comes over to main protagonist, Marcus, after seeing him with headphones. After asking about the “wack” music, Marcus said the song is by The Smiths.

Willie: Yo. Who listens to a Walkman at a party?

You look a fool.

What’s this wack sh***?

Marcus: The Smiths

Willie: Sort of gay, isn’t it?

Passerby: Yep.

Marcus: By ‘gay’, you mean ‘brave’ and ‘honest’?

Willie: Whining over a guitar ain’t brave.

Marcus: It’s hard to be fearless about sadness.

Willie: ‘Fearless, sad’– are you for real?

Marcus: Yeah, most people hide it, like it’s a weakness. Acting so f****** tough.

If you have access, you can watch it on Syfy.com

So far, I mostly love the 80s/90s music in the show (did you guys catch the Violent Femmes in the episode?)… but I didn’t love this episode. I’m still interested, so I’ll continue to watch.
