Kansas City’s indie-rock band The Greeting Committee is on tour in support of their forthcoming album Everyone’s Gone and I Know I’m The Cause… headlining the Fine Line on July 23, 2024.

Opening the show was New York City-based Toledo, a duo featuring Jordan Dunn-Pilz and Dan Alvarez. Despite them telling us that they’ve “never been here before,” it’s not entirely true. They continue to say, “I thought Minneapolis was a state!”

Although technically they might be right about Minneapolis, the duo was last at the Amsterdam Bar, in St Paul, across the river, in Oct 2019, with Penelope Isles.

It probably doesn’t matter anyway, as the two don’t really take things too seriously, like singing songs about Jesus bathroom, forgetting lyrics (who knew singing was so hard), and making copyright infringing Buffy the Vampire Slayer T-Shirts.

Even if you don’t like their music, you can’t deny that they were fun. According to the band, Alvarez is the wildcard and Dunn-Pilz is the sensible one. They’re both jokers, in my opinion.

The Greeting Committee walk on the stage to Skeeter Davis’ “The End of the World” and loud cheers from the young audience.

Singer Addie Sartino said that they’re halfway into their tour and it’s going well. Of all the dates they’ve played so far, Minneapolis was their favorite. They always have a good time when they’re here.

They saved their big hit song, “Hands Down” near the end of their set, to a very satisfied audience.

The Greeting Committee Everyone’s Gone and I Know I’m The Cause is out now.
