The Birthday Massacre
with Essenger and Magic Wands
at Fine Line

first-avenue.com

Canada’s The Birthday Massacre returns to the Fine Line, this April 2, 2025, in support of Pathways.

We saw Birthday Massacres in March 2022 and wrote, “Part of the fun in attending The Birthday Massacre’s show is looking at their fanbase. Everyone is dressed in black, some in black bunny costumes, some in fishnets. What is even cooler is that the band’s audience is cross-generational, meaning today’s youth are listening to this 20+ year old band. Their music and message is just relevant today, as it was twenty years ago. The Birthday Massacre’s latest album Fascination, the follow-up to their pandemic album Diamonds, is out now on Metropolis Records.”

Essenger and Los Angelese-based (by way of Nashville) Magic Wands to open. The latter band features vocalists Chris and Dexy Valentine, and their latest song “Armour” is out now on Metropolis Records.

02 Apr 2025 Wednesday
Sir Woman
at Turf Club

first-avenue.com

Wild Child’s Kelsey Wilson is on a solo tour as Sir Woman. Wilson had a great tour run with Sammy Rae and the Friends last year. Sir Woman’s latest Never Gonna Give Me Up is out now.

We saw Wild Child in April 2023 and said, “Wild Child put some thought in their set. Walking on stage to Ennio Morricone’s “The Good the Bad and the Ugly” theme song was just Kelsey Wilson and Alexander Beggins. Kelsey announced, “let’s do an old one!” as they played “Pillow Talk”. It’s a fan-favorite, as you find out when Kelsey would just let the audience finish her chorus. Then the “The Good the Bad and the Ugly” theme song played again, as their newest band member, John Calvin Abney, walked on stage. This is interesting, because Kelsey and Alexander admitted that they needed a third songwriter (that’s John), because they would just write depressing songs. John brought a new, fresh approach to their songs, so they are grateful to have John as part of their songwriting family.”
