Asian Invasion: K-Pop (2025)
There’s no denying it: K-Pop are extremely popular with the kids. Some examples: KPop Demon Hunters is the most popular Netflix, with Netflix releasing the 1,300 sold-out screenings and 236 million views (in August 2025). Recently, Kateyes sold out the 8,000+ capacity Armory. The two most popular K-Pop bands, BTS and Blackpink, are (or were) in the news all the time when they were on promotional tour and appearances. You can see the crowds they draw in whenever they appear in person. It’s absolutely nuts.

Despite calling themselves Seventeen, there seems to only be 13 band members: S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino. Maybe they all started when they were 17 years old, who knows.
On a recent trip to Lotte, I saw this massive display for Tteok Bokki food with a boy-band on the cover. Just a quick glance at the packaging, I don’t think they mention who these idols are, just a bunch of young men. After confirming they are, indeed, Seventeen, I have come to the conclusion that these guys love this Korean food. If it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for me! I’ll have to buy some to try it out the next time I’m grocery shopping at Lotte.
Recently (Nov 29, 2025), the group released a live broadcast of the ‘NEW_’ world tour from Vantelin Dome in Nagoya, Japan directly to participating cinemas to celebrate their 10th anniversary and supports their fifth studio album, HAPPY BURSTDAY (which debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart).
If you’re in Japan, Seventeen is touring there:
- 11 Dec Tokyo Dome Bunkyo, Japan
- 12 Dec Tokyo Dome Bunkyo, Japan
- 20 Dec Fukuoka Dome (PayPay Dome) Fukuoka, Japan
- 21 Dec Fukuoka Dome (PayPay Dome) Fukuoka, Japan
All-girls K-Pop superstars Twice features nine members: Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu. The group is returning to the USA as part of their WORLD TOUR. For the first time, Twice will perform in-the-round on a 360-degree stage, transforming arenas into immersive spaces where fans can experience the show from every angle. There will not be a bad seat in the house, if it all works out!
In 2024, Twice became the first female K-Pop group to headline both MLB and NFL stadiums, selling out Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium and New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium. They were also the first female K-Pop group to headline a U.S. stadium with two sold-out nights at LA’s BMO Stadium in 2022 — a record that set the stage for their unprecedented stadium tour. Expect other record-breaking shows as Twice returns with their biggest tour yet.

Global superstars Stray Kids is currently an eight-member troupe: Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N. I guess there is one stray: Woojin left the band in 2019.
The Korean band made Billboard history when their first seven Billboard 200 entries debut at #1… and then they went on a massive global 56 shows, solidifying the status as one of the world’s top-performing K-Pop act.
Now, Stray Kids are returning with their highly-anticipated SKZ IT TAPE ‘DO IT’, out now on JYP Entertainment / IMPERIAL / Republic Records. As usual with these K-Pop releases, expect to see a variety of variants, such as different cover artwork or additional features.
Los Angeles’ instrumental group Vitamin String Quartet is not a K-Pop band, but they recently released their new EP Vitamin String Quartet Performs KPop Demon Hunters on CMH Label Group/Vitamin Records. The release offers seven string renditions from the hit musical fantasy film, including VSQ’s classical take on the Billboard charting KPop Demon Hunters hits “Golden” and “Soda Pop.”
If you can’t get enough of Kpop Demon Hunters, you can get your fix with VSQ.
