The new Morton Amphitheater keeps a-rollin’ –

Three more shows announced in the last few days – Ke$ha on June 3 is now the earliest show of their season, August 4th brings the return of 311 (singer Nick Hexum plays solo this Friday in Lawrence) along with Dirty Heads, and Sept 2 brings the long-awaited (and final tour from Wu-Tang Clan (who we caught live way back in ‘97 at Sandstone with Rage Against the Machine). More announcements to come? – likely.

Meanwhile, Sandstone Azura has formally adopted a full clear bag policy and we noticed Bush tickets for their early May show, are down to $30, all-in and also has a separate cheap BOGO offer, for anyone still on the fence. We caught Gavin and co. last year with Shinedown, and everything’s still zen.

SUNDAY MARCH 29

Planet Comicon Kansas City, Mar 27-29, Bartle Hall, $41.99-$97.99

Last Day of fun! The pop culture event of the year returns to the downtown Convention Center for three fun-filled days, including a strong lineup of celebrities, comic book creators, exhibitors, numerous panels, plus the annual cosplay contest with a $15K prize pool, after dark events, and much more.

The show began in 1999 as a small comic book convention and now after over a quarter-century, has become the region’s largest event, with over 70,000 attending last year. Look for our round up coverage soon!

KC Ballet presents Stars and Stripes, Mar 29, Kauffman, $43.50-$158.50

Last chance! This is a new mixed repertory ballet program featuring three short dance works, Stars and Stripes, to celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary with a thrilling dance journey.

The program includes George Balanchine’s eponymous 1958 patriotic masterpiece, Agnes de Mille’s Rodeo, an exploration of the American West set to Aaron Copland’s vibrant score, and a world premiere by innovative choreographer Caili Quan.

Celebrate Kansas City Ballet’s tribute to our country’s 250th anniversary with this thrilling dance journey. This unforgettable performance promises to leave you with a deep appreciation for the power of movement and expression.

The Devil Wears Prada, Four Year Strong, Split Chain, Mar 29, Granada- Lawrence,$40.05

Dayton, OH metalcore veterans The Devil Wears Prada’s 2026 “Flowers” Tour is a headline outing supporting their ninth studio album, Flowers, released last November. The tour features a mix of new material from the album alongside the band’s classic catalog and runs through April 12 in Nashville, with this Lawrence stop coming towards the end of the US leg. The band’s sound has evolved since their early Christian leaning roots, but they’ve never shied away from honest lyrics and describing life’s extremes.

Longtime Worcester, MA punk pop quartet Four Year Strong, rising UK nu-gazers Split Chain and I Promised the World are also on the bill, so arrive early for a full evening.

MONDAY MARCH 30

Ashnikko, March 30, Uptown, Sold Out

Ashnikko (aka Ashton Nicole Casey) is a London-based rapper, singer, and songwriter, originally from North Carolina and known for their genre-bending, “agit-pop” sound and eccentric, anime-inspired aesthetic. They rose to global prominence with the 2019 viral hit “Stupid” and identify as gender fluid and pansexual.

The pop disruptor released the highly-anticipated second studio album Smoochies last Fall sand the tour in support of, continues with this sold-out KC stop, part of a 47-date global trek which will lead to the tour wrapping up in Toronto on May 19. We’re told to expect “chaotic energy,” hard-hitting beats, and a visual production that balances intensity with intentional, stylized staging.

Arrive early for opener Princess Nokia, the stage name of Destiny Frasqueri, a NY-born Puerto Rican rapper, singer, songwriter, actress, and activist. Known for her genre-bending music, she’s gained buzz for her personal lyricism exploring themes of loss, foster care, identity, womanhood, and her upbringing. In 2023, she released the EP I Love You but this is Goodbye and latest full-length was last October’s GIRLS was released via Artist House.

Bad Suns w she’s green, Mar 30, Madrid,$33.50

The LA indie pop-rock trio have embarked on a full spring headlining tour, celebrating the release of their latest studio album, Accelerator, out now, is their fifth full-length and first as a trio, and has become one of their most acclaimed records to date. The run concludes on April 29 in Tucson, AZ, totaling nearly a month of performances and after an earlier EU/UK tour.

Released last August, the record represents a decade of evolution for Cristo Bowman, Gavin Bennett, and Miles Morris, who formed Bad Suns as teenagers in 2012. The album’s lead single, “Communicating,” reached No. 19 on alternative rock radio and No. 24 on the Hot AC charts.

Arrive early for WHM favorite, she’s green, a Minneapolis-based dream pop and shoegaze band known for their “moss music” aesthetic. The five-piece group consists of Zofia Smith (vocals), Liam Armstrong (guitar), Raines Lucas (guitar), Teddy Nordvold (bass), and Kevin Seebeck (drums). They gained recognition for their debut EP Wisteria (2023) and their 2025 EP Chrysalis.

TUESDAY MARCH 31

The Wonder Years, Knuckle Puck, Weakened Friends, Mar 31, Truman,$46.86

This Spring tour featuring The Wonder Years, Knuckle Puck, and Weakened Friends is a 10th-anniversary celebration of TWY’s 2015 album, No Closer to Heaven. The band will mark the decade since, by performing the album in its entirety, alongside other hits as a second set, with the tour wrapping up with now Six Philadelphia shows, each with different support acts.

The band also forecasts a likely hiatus following this run of shows saying, “these are the last shows we’re planning on doing for an undetermined amount of time. We’re planning on taking a step back for a bit. So, I’m just saying: if you want to see The Wonder Years in the near future, maybe take this opportunity.”

Arrive early for Knuckle Puck, the pop-punk emo band from the south suburbs of Chicago, formed in 2010. The name is a reference to the “knuckle puck” shot from the 1994 film D2: The Mighty Ducks. The band consists of Joe Taylor (vocals), Nick Casasanto (guitar/vocals), Kevin Maida (guitar), Ryan Rumchaks (bass), and John Siorek (drums)

Arrive even earlier for Weakened Friends, the rising indie rock trio based in Portland, ME. The band consists of Sonia Sturino (vocals, guitar), Annie Hoffman (bass, vocals), and Adam Hand (drums). Known for their fuzzed-out, high-energy sound and raw lyrics, they explore themes like the realities of working as a musician, burnout, lost friendships, and adulthood. Notable Albums include 2018’s Common Blah, 2021’s Quitter and last year’s Feels Like Hell.
