We♥KC! June 26-30, 2026, Upcoming concerts / shows (Kansas City, MO / Lawrence, KS metro)
‘Rocktober’ is already knocking on the door, and it’s the return of Day on the Hill!
We’re barely into Summer but are already getting plenty of show notices for October (and beyond into 2027). Typically, it’s the month in the fall that spikes with shows that are touring before the chill of winter and the holidays set in. In the Midwest, bands are usually making a stop, coming from, or going to Aftershock or Outside Lands in California, or Austin City Limits Festival in TX.
The biggest news locally though, is the return of Day on the Hill, on the KU Campus in Lawrence. Instead of being in early May and free, this will be October 6 and ticketed featuring Turnstile, Slayyyter and Die Spitz, which is an awesome lineup. We were there in the ‘90s for Pearl Jam, Urge Overkill, Matthew Sweet, and more, and it’s great to hear that it returns for the first time since 2007.
Let’s look at the weekend and the end of the month in Kansas City / Lawrence KS metro musical happenings from June 26th to 30th.

FRIDAY JUNE 26
Robyn Hitchcock, June 26, 780 Series interview (free) & performance, Lawrence Arts Center (Sold Out)
With a career now spanning six decades, English singer-songwriter Robyn Hitchcock remains a one-of-a-kind artist, surrealist rock ‘n’ roller, iconic troubadour, guitarist, poet, painter, and performer. Hitchcock has traversed many genres with humor, intelligence and originality over 30 albums and infinite live performances.
From The Soft Boys‘ proto-psych-punk and The Egyptians‘ Dadaist pop to acclaimed solo works like 1984’s I Often Dream of Trains and 1990’s Eye, Hitchcock has crafted a strikingly original oeuvre.
This full band show (a three-piece backing group of Nashville-based friends) should feature classics from his long career alongside brand-new singles, promoting his 25th studio album and he also has a recent book out.
Prior to the performance, he’ll sit down for a free, extended interview as part of the 780 Series and the Free State Festival. Both portions are sold out.
SATURDAY JUNE 27
Cake, June 27, TPAC- Topeka,$62.60-$196

Their last album, Showroom of Compassion, debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200.
Lead vocalist John McCrea describes “Billionaire in Space” as “an observation of economic imbalance and being left behind.” We expect them to giveaway and/or plant a tree while in T-Town too, as is their tradition.
Five for Fighting w Edwin McCain, June 27, Stifel Theater- Salina,$49-$88
Road trip west! Grammy® nominated, platinum-selling artist, Five For Fighting (aka John Ondrasik) and multi-platinum singer-songwriter Edwin McCain have teamed up for a summer co-headline tour bringing two of the most enduring catalogs to theaters. We caught FFF live, last year in Lawrence with a string quartet, so can attest to this being an entertaining show.
To date, FFF has released six studio albums, including the platinum certified America Town and The Battle for Everything; and the top 10 charting Two Lights, along with an EP and live albums. Ondrasik has penned major hits such as “100 Years,” “The Riddle,” “Chances,” “World,” and “Easy Tonight,” Earning millions of streams and placing Ondrasik as a top 10 Hot Adult Contemporary artist for the 2000s. He also wrote “Can One Man Save The World?” which was inspired by the courage of President Vladimir Zelenskyy and the people of Ukraine.
A major-label breakout in the mid-’90s with Honor Among Thieves, Edwin McCain became a Top 40 mainstay and soundtrack favorite thanks to enduring smash hits like “I’ll Be” and “I Could Not Ask for More,” earning a reputation as one of pop’s great romantics over a three-decade career. Last year, McCain released his 11th studio album, Lucky.
Your girlfriend likely wants one or more of their songs played at your wedding, so gas up the tank and head to Salina to hear them live!
SUNDAY JUNE 28
Jesus Christ Taxi Driver, June 28, Sound Bite Social, $19.50-$24.50
Another great band name! Colorado’s Jesus Christ Taxi Driver is out on their God Gave Us Wheelz For A Reazon Tour in support of their second album, Taxi The Rich, via Midtopia. Taking cues from garage punk, funk, surf rock, twang and power pop, JCTD assembles an unlikely thematic cast of characters on the new record.
The band shared that, “‘Taxi the Rich’ is a worried perspective of our current time. The album’s subject matter looks at the world from afar and from up close, even looks within and into the past. We wonder how we got here, we recite mantras to ease the fear, and sometimes we play our instruments loud to show our teeth.”
Formed in 2022 on the Centennial State’s front range, the band is made up of Ian Ehrhart (guitar and vocals), Colin Kelly (guitar and vocals), Miles Jenkins (drums) and Will Ehrhart (bass) and they’ve previously opened for Frank Black (Pixies), The Hold Steady, A Place to Bury Strangers, and more. (FYI, the venue is inside Warehouse on Broadway).
Gym Class Heroes, June 28, Sporting KC Park, Free
Travie and the crew are back! Gym Class Heroes is touring in 2026 to celebrate their comeback and upcoming first new studio album in 14 years. The tour is packed with major festival appearances, blending their signature blend of hip-hop swagger and live alt-rock, as well as this free KC stop, as part of FIFA World Cup-related entertainment. Fans should hear new tracks alongside nostalgic hits like the 3x Platinum single “Cupid’s Chokehold” and 5x Platinum “Stereo Hearts.”
MONDAY JUNE 29
TUESDAY JUNE 30
Dylan LeBlanc, June 30, Knuckleheads,$25.95
Dylan LeBlanc is a singer-songwriter and guitarist from Shreveport, LA, known for his atmospheric blend of folk, Americana, and alternative country, who often finds himself flirting with the edge- or “dancing on a razor,” as he calls it.
LeBlanc’s music career took off early. He dropped out of high school at 16 to join a rock band, and by age 19, he released his debut, Paupers Field (2010). Over the years, his sound has continually evolved, moving from acoustic, folk-centric roots to fuller, pop-leaning rock.
“Cautionary Tale (Revisited),” is a new version of his 2016 track, out now along with an official live video. The track is from his upcoming special 10th Anniversary re-release of his album Cautionary Tale, available now, via Single Lock Records. We just caught the show last week in St Paul, MN.
