Here are a couple shows coming up at the Warfield, in California.

Squeeze: Tried, Tested and Trixies Tour

Consider this a jumpstart to the hearts of ‘80s new wave fans dying for the singular pop sounds of the era: English band Squeeze are currently touring North America with heavyweight ‘80s British stalwarts Haircut 100 and Adam Ant in tow on most dates (Leon Tilbrook, son of Squeeze singer/guitarist Glenn Tilbrook, opens on a few dates, and the English Beat open for the L.A. date at the Hollywood Bowl). Touring in support of their latest album, Trixies, which was released in March, you can expect Squeeze to dip into all the sun-soaked songs of love and love lost from their storied career—”Cool for Cats,” “Tempted,” “Up the Junction,” and the list goes on. Put on your cable-knit to sing along to Haircut 100 classics like “Love Plus One,” or grab some face paint and a fluffy pirate shirt to dance to Adam Ant’s new wave classics like “Goody Two Shoes” if you’re lucky to catch all three in your town. Expect to leave the show singing all the way home.

Here are the stage times:

Doors Open @ 7

Peter Hook & The Light @ 8 (NO OPENER!)

Approximate Finish @ 11

A few last minute tickets are still available via www.peterhookandthelight.live

We’ve seen these sort of album tour from Hook before, having seen him play Unknown Pleasures in Aug 2022 and wrote, “At 8pm exactly, Peter Hook & the Light took the stage. They are on a tight schedule, as playing both Joy Division albums will clock in over two hours… and to make it worth your time, Hook and company played a selection of early New Order songs to help the audience (like “Age of Consent”, “Blue Monday” and “Temptation”) get excited about what’s to come. The New Order set was about 40 minutes before a brief intermission. The band returned to play Unknown Pleasures. As expected, the band is very tight in play every song, in its original track listing order. Fans who knew and love the album from start to finish, eagerly anticipate the next song. There were no surprises, but that’s not what the fans came for.”

Olly olly ox free

London alt-rock band Palace are touring in support of Ox (arrives Sept 18th via Palace Presents/AWAL).

Talking about their new single, “Ohio”, the band said:

It’s without doubt one of our favorite Palace songs ever. The seed for the track came from when we last toured in the States, specifically after our show at Newport Music Hall in Columbus. Our Ohio-native friends David and Philly Reed took us to their favorite bar. We had a good ol fashioned knees up with the gang – our crew, band and friends. It stayed in the memory and eventually inspired the idea for the tune.
