Arcade1Up: Asteroids

So, I accidentally bought my second Arcade1Up, an Atari's Asteroids machine. Of all the cabinets that Arcade1Up released, this was my least desirable. I recognized that these games are important, but these games (Asteroids, Major Havoc, Lunar Lander, and Tempest) were just really way before my time. In fact, when I was going to the arcades, I never saw these (and if they were there, I never played them).

Weekend Gamer: Free Edition

With China’s Singles’ Day (or 光棍节 / Guanggun Jie) (11/11) here and United States’ Black Friday (11/22) coming up, we’re seeing huge savings on products across the board. While most of these items won't be on sale until the set dates, some retailers are already slashing prices this week in celebration.

Weekend Gamer: Gamer Unlock and StarCraft II

I recently signed up for Best Buy’s Gamers Unlocked membership, which costs $30 for two years. This is a similar program to GameStop’s Elite Pro Membership ($30 a year), only Best Buy’s program is more appealing thanks to its 20% off all new games (GameStop’s discount only applies to used games) and cheaper membership pricing.

Xbox One S

Originally, I wanted to get the Xbox One X (originally called Scorpio), but after hearing the disappointing pricing of $500, I decided it was in my best interest to get an Xbox One S instead. I was waiting to see if prices would drop when the Xbox One X is released, or at the least, wait until Black Friday to see if I could get a deal on the S console, but I ended up purchasing a refurbished gaming system for about $229. With a little buyer’s remorse, maybe I should’ve just paid more and get a bundle with a game or a different color/special edition. Still, the Xbox One S is currently my go-to media playback device.
