Midnight Movies

This band often gets compared to Nico or Ivy, which is actually not a bad thing…

Midnight Movies are based out of Los Angeles, California, and have two albums under their belt: Midnight Movies (2004) and Lion the Girl (2007).

So I found out that Gena Olivier (singer) met up with Larry Schemel (guitars) through a classified ad. Can you believe it ? They didn’t meet on myspace!

From what I’ve gathered, Olivier used to play the drums (and sings) in the band when they were a trio, but they’ve added a regular drummer named Sandra Vu (no relations to Dolly or I).

So anyway, I’m including a video for “Patient Eye”, which according to the video notes is a “Rough Cut” and was made available 10/22/2006. Watch the original high-quality MOV file: midnightmovies.net (30 mb).

Trivia: The term “midnight movie” is best associated with B-movies (low budget movies). These movies are usually shown late at night on local television stations or movie theaters.
