Jo Foster

One of the things that irritates me is when people fall in love with singers in bands. Luckily Jo Foster doesn’t have a band so I don’t feel like a hypocrite!

The problem with reviewing anybody who hasn’t broken through yet is gathering information about them is close to stalking. I can tell you that Jo Foster is a singer-song writer who is originally from London but is now based in Fife. According to her myspace, she is a painter, potter and singer.

To date she has released one recording, containing three songs; Gone in the City, Oh Catherine & I Walk in the Room. Her CD is available at request direct from her myspace & comes in its own individual packaging. Mine had flowers.

Her style is very similar to Jolie Holland & to a lesser extent Jessca Hoop. Some of her songs can be quite haunting.

I have seen her perform twice at “The Cluny” in Newcastle. Her shows have a nervy edge to them that only serves to adhere her to the crowd.

All in all, I found her singing captivating and look forward to hearing a debut album at some point in the future.

She is currently touring with The Aliens and recently performed at Glastonbury Festival – Ryan
