The Autumn Defense
The third and self-titled album of the band is a cruise on a sea full of positive vibrations.
John Stirratt and Pat Sansone (both from Wilco), the two leaders, built with this album a masterpiece of peace. There isn’t any nostalgic of the famous California days in their songs. Those days are simply not over. They give us a timeless feeling.
The rhythm of their albums’ releases is a proof: Green Hour (2000), Circles (2003). Stirrat and Sansone work hard but slowly… And arrangements and orchestrations are each band members’ preoccupation since they are all playing nearly every instrument.
Of course, we can’t help thinking of The Beach Boys or The Byrds while listening to Autumn Defense, but is it a problem? Not for those two easy-going life lovers. The texts are as coloured as their environment is free of stress. The peace and love vibes of the 60’s and 70’s are definitely not dead.
So, for those among you wishing to experience an endless summer feeling: have a seat, have a glass, and have the sun shine all around… Autumn Defense will do the rest…
