Jenny Hval

After winning “Best Newcomer” in Norway, Jenny Hval signed to Trust Me Records and released music under the stage name Rockettothesky. Currently, she has been releasing music under her real name for Rune …

Mark McGuire and Norway’s “Best Newcomer” Jenny Hval are on a co-headlining tour in America. They stopped by St Paul’s Turf Club.

Wavepool

Starting off the show was Wavepool, featuring Bennett Johnson from Daughters of the Sun. The drone/instrumental band basically played one song that lasted about 30 minutes, starting late and ending late in their set.

Jenny Hval started her career under the stagename Rockettothesky, but eventually started using her real name after signing with record label Rune Grammofon.

As we’ve previously mentioned, her latest album is called Innocence Is Kinky, which she played the title track on her set.

Despite the snow (in April!), Hval was not impressed. “We have snow where we’re from… I’m very disappointed,” Hval said expressionless, right before she played “Blood Flight”.
