Spooky Ghost

Two local bands opened up the show, starting with duo Spooky Ghost (Jesse Pedersen and Jordan)… although for their live setup, they had a full backing band. They spent most of the time in near darkness with a party light.
The band seemed really new, so far, only the song "Brooklyn Girls" is available on their Bandcamp.

Moving Parts

So-called "indie beach rock" band Moving Parts was up next, playing various tracks from their debut album and three EP's, including their latest live self-titled which came out earlier this February 2015.
Although normally a trio (Johnny Took, Tommy O'Dell and Matt Mason), the DMA's is a full six-piece band on this current US tour.
As you know, I was a huge Britpop fan in the early to mid 90s, and had amazing opportunities to interview Oasis' Liam Gallagher in 1994, Radiohead's Phil Selway in 1995, Suede's Matt Osman in 1995, etc. So what I can tell you that is DMA's music is incredibly like Oasis, right down to the overpowering guitar wailing, the vocal styling, and the Liam bucket hat. While I love this, I understand that some people may also be dismissive and calling DMA's simply a copycat band.
Anyway, none of that really mattered once the Australian band kicked off their set with "Feels Like 37" and inspired a couple in the audience to just madly danced like kangaroos throughout their entire set. Shortly after "So We Know", one of the guitarist (on acoustic), spent his time in the audience during "Delete".
The majority of their set included almost all the tracks from their self-titled EP, which came out May 18th, via Mom + Pop Music, but the band also threw in a new song called "Lay Down".
Britpop fans, you owe it to yourselves to check out the DMA's… currently on tour.
