Transmission's DJ Jake Rudh used the video projection to showcase a variety of late 60s, 70s, 80s mostly British bands (some exceptions for Sonic Youth and Nazz). If you've ever been to Transmission, you'll recognize the selections, including David Bowie, Rolling Stones, Broadcast, Stereolab, etc.

Chatham Rise

The first band was local Chatham Rise, sounding like Chapterhouse, Slowdive, and very early Lush. They spent their entire 30-min set in near darkness, with a fog machine.

Fever the Ghost
|
Los Angeles' Fever the Ghost played some 70s-era psych-pop songs. Singer Casper came on stage with a veil and what looked like a homemade cape/blanket. The cape was discarded by the third song, "Calico". That song was covered by Temples for the Heavenly Record Store Day Release (April 2015).
Their 30-min set included some tracks from their EP Crab In Honey, plus tracks from their forthcoming 2015 full-length debut for Heavenly Recordings and Complicated Game. New tracks included "Keep In The Dark", which may sound simple with the repetitive "keep in the dark/stay out of the light", but it's incredibly catchy.
While the band is clearly young, I can tell right away if you're into modern psychedelic bands, you will probably love Fever the Ghost.
Temples came on stage, filming the audience. Singer James Bagshaw explained, "We're filming everything, you're all in our documentary."
Once that was out of the way, Temples basically played the same set from last year, which shouldn't surprise anyone since they only have one album Sun Structures under their belt.
Having said that, Temples is working on a new record, and they previewed a couple of new tracks on this new set: "Volcano" medley with "Saviour" and later "Move With The Season" (which Bagshaw described as "really good").
"Mesmerise" closed out their set with an extended instrumental jam that took over five minutes to finish.
Encore included "Sand Dance" and fan favorite "Shelter Song".
Temples' Sun Structures is out now on Heavenly Records (Fat Possum Records for USA). Look for their upcoming album sometime in the future.
