Marina
with Mallrat
at Fillmore Minneapolis
livenation.com

Welsh singer Marina, formerly known as Marina and the Diamonds, will be headlining the Fillmore, in Minneapolis, on September 15, 2025.

Mallrat at 7th Street (Aug 7, 2019)

Opening up the show, fresh off her sold-out tour, will be Australia’s Mallrat. We saw her in August 2019 and said, “Singer/rapper Mallrat (aka Grace Shaw) came on stage to unveil her brand new crazy pink folded top (which resembles a flower of some sort). Shaw would later confess that the shirt is too big and she can’t properly move her arms… describing that she felt like a Tyrannosaurs Rex. Starting out her set with “Tokyo Drift”, she would move back and forth and smiling brightly as she sings, “and we’re never on time, laughing at the wrong time”.”

Daisy the Great
at Amsterdam Bar & Hall

Brooklyn’s Daisy the Great (Mina Walker and Kelley Dugan) is back in the Twin Cities! The duo’s latest, The Rubber Teeth Talk, came out last month on S-Curve Records.

Daisy the Great at 7th Street (Apr 16, 2023)

We caught Daisy the Great in Apr 2023 and said, “Despite the snow, Daisy the Great drew in quite the crowd. Everyone on the dancefloor were already super dedicated fans, knowing all the songs and have kept up with the duo’s misadventures on their tour. The 7th Street Entry was only their fourth show on this 2023 tour … yet they seemed like seasoned professionals, even though they’re often goofing and joking around.”

Mt. Joy
at Armory
armorymn.com

Philadelphia’s Mt Joy is back, and playing their biggest venue yet, in Minneapolis: at the Armory on September 16, 2025. The band’s new album Hope We Have Fun is out now via Futures x Bloom Field Records.

Mt. Joy at Fine Line (Oct 15, 2017)

We saw Mt. Joy in Oct 2017 and wrote, “Los Angeles by way of Philadelphia alt-folk-rockers Mt. Joy opened the evening with a forty-five minute set of new songs that properly introduced the new band, and gave these many won-over fans a chance to hear the tracks, soon to appear on their upcoming debut. Matt Quinn (vocals/guitar) and Sam Cooper (guitar) met in high school and started performing songs together over a dozen years ago, reuniting in LA to record four songs last year in their producer’s living room (joined later on by Michael Byrnes-bass, Sotiris Eliopoulos-drums, and Terrance Mack-keys to form a five-piece live act). Influenced by many classic ‘70’s jam acts, the whistling ‘Cardinal’ lyrically reminds to take the time to notice the everyday beauty around us, ‘Uke Song’ was played with “tiny guitar” as Quinn called it, and the uplifting and set-closing ‘Sheep’ actually had the most socially-biting lyrics, inspired by the Freddie Grey unrest- “When there is blood on the streets of Baltimore, people getting ready for a long war, maybe I was born in the wrong skin but those sheep are rolling in the mud again.””

Steven Wilson
at Orpheum Theatre
hennepinarts.org

Musician, producer, spatial audio innovator and frontman of Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson has pushed the boundaries between expansive rock music and visionary electronic sound.

Wilson’s recent eighth solo album ‘The Overview’ and accompanying tour promises to transport you to space with live audio visual escapism. The six-time-Grammy Award-nominated musician, songwriter and producer make his first full-band solo headline run in North America for the first time in over seven years. You’ll also get the chance to hear tracks from previous album ‘The Harmony Codex’ played live for the first time.

The 42-minute new album is comprised of just two epic tracks, “Objects Outlive Us” and “The Overview”, each made up of distinctive musical sections that flow from one to the next, playing out as unique and continuous pieces. Once again, Wilson’s resolutely expansive music incorporates everything from glistening electronics to post-rock and beyond, pushing forward the singular sound and vision that has long defined his ambitious body of work for more than three decades.
