Site Update: Sticker Mule [Promotional Scam]

Site Update
Site Update is a semi-regular personal update or behind the scene of We Heart Music.
I recently created a custom QR Code for wheartm.com, and thought it might look cool on a business card. I wanted to use a different printer, just to see how other printers would look or their turnaround time. The only printer I’ve ever used was Vista Printing, but it can be expensive and they are slow on printing and shipping. I’ve never had a problem with Vista, except they removed some of my early business card designs due to inactivity.
I was sent this promotional link from Sticker Mule: $1 for 10 stickers (with free shipping). I’ve never heard of this company before, but I thought this would be a good way for me to sample their printing. After I played around with the design and went to check out, applied the promotional code and the invoice showed $1.08 (including sales tax). Great, let’s do this!
Unfortunately, after I checked my bank statement, I noticed that Sticker Mule charged me $19 for the stickers, not $1 in the original invoice.
When I contacted customer support (after ignoring the AI bots), the company suggested that it was my fault that I removed the promotional code when I made changes to the stickers. That is not correct, it was Sticker Mule that sent me an email saying there was something wrong with my original order. After I fixed the image problem (uploading a new 300dpi file), I never made any billing changes or was aware that I was changing the bill. This is either a technical billing error (automatically removing any promo codes), or it was deliberate bait-and-switch. Whatever they are doing, it’s shady.
LA Weekly documented this misleading practice in 2023:
Customer Complaints
The company [Sticker Mule] has faced accusations of misleading marketing practices, including bait and switch tactics. Customers report on the BBB of being lured in with promotions, only to be told their artwork requires additional editing at an added cost.
That is EXACTLY what happened to me. This practice has been going on for years now. While I was refunded the $18, there is no way I’m doing future business with this terrible company.
If you need further proof to stay away, Sticker Mule donates and promote Donald Trump and his agenda.
