Supergroup Tomahawk (featuring Faith No More’s Mike Patton, Jesus Lizard’s Duane Denison, Helmet’s John Stanier, Melvins’ Kevin Rutmanis) will be headlining First Avenue, in Minneapolis, on August 5, 2026. Typically with supergroups, it’s a rare thing to see them all together, because each individual has their own project and schedule.
The ticket limit is strict. Any attempt to exceed the posted ticket limit per customer or household, or to game the system in any way, will result in cancellation of orders without notice. There is a transfer delay for all tickets prior to the show.
Melvins to open. We saw the band in April 2016 and noted, “Second to play Sunday night was The Melvins. These guys have a huge following in Minneapolis. I truly thought they were from here but apparently that’s not true at all, people up here just really, really like them and you could tell by watching the crowd. Singer and guitarist Buzz Osborne, aka King Buzzo (dressed in an illuminati robe), and was joined on stage by bassist Steven Shane McDonald and Dale Crover (the latter two wearing t-shirts with their first name). Fun fact, McDonald is normally the bassist to the legendary Redd Kross…. and was probably the reason why the Melvins covered “Frosted Flake” on their set.”

Young the Giant will be stopping by Minneapolis, at the Surly Brewing Festival Field, in support of their latest album Victory Garden (Fearless Records / Concord). We mentioned the album release date earlier in May.
The ticket limit is strict. Any attempt to exceed the posted ticket limit per customer or household, or to game the system in any way, will result in cancellation of orders without notice. There is a transfer delay for all tickets prior to the show.
We saw the band with Cage the Elephant in Aug 2024 and wrote: “Young the Giant what somewhat treated as co-headliner, with singer Sameer Gadhia mentioning that both Cage and Young started at the same time musically… and have always wanted to work or tour together. While they can certain draw in the crowd, as evident by their headlining tour in June 2023: “Young the Giant kept up with the dance mood, opening the evening with the stirring “American Bollywood” from their latest album with the same name. Formed in 2004 in Irvine, CA, the band is comprised of Sameer Gadhia on lead vocals, Jacob Tilley on guitar, Eric Cannata on guitar, Payam Doostzadeh on bass and Francois Comtois on drums. They are a well-honed group and they put on a dazzling show with their songs, light show and Gadhia’s Technicolor dream coat.”
Cold War Kids and KennyHoopla to open.

If your band is coming to the Minneapolis/St Paul area, please email details to vu@weheartmusic.com with a good lead time. Thank you.
