First Avenue

First Avenue is a legendary, independent music venue in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, famous for its role in Prince’s film Purple Rain and for its iconic exterior wall painted with stars recognizing performers. Opened in 1970, the venue hosts over 200 concerts annually in its 1,550-capacity Mainroom and 350+ shows in the 250-capacity 7th St Entry

Poppy & PVRIS at First Avenue (09/07/2023)

Poppy took the stage in a baby blue gogo dress and pigtails the crowd had filled to capacity and they were there to celebrate at the altar of all that is Poppy. But first there was a prayer to assure the crowd that there would be plenty of love, candy, dancing and screaming, which immediately lead into “BLOODMONEY”, a song that gives Poppy the noted distinction of being the first solo female act to receive a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance (2021).

Three decades later, it’s still a Shame--Make that Shame, Shame in our case as we headed out not once, but twice to catch The Lemonheads on their It’s a Shame About Ray- 30th Anniversary Tour in Kansas City, MO at the Madrid Theatre and also the following date up north in Minneapolis, MN at First Avenue.
