Trembling Blue Stars – Idyllwild (Updated)
London-based Trembling Blue Stars returns this May 14th with their sixth album, The Last Holy Writer. A stand alone EP, Exploring the Shadows, will be released by Elefant Records later this year, according to their myspace blog.
So a little introduction to TBS is in order. According to our friend Jaime, she tells me that TBS was just Robert Wratten trying to cope with his break up with his girlfriend Annemari Davies. So all the sad love songs are basically all about Annemari (even though I think it’s weird that she’s still in his band). It was never meant to be anything but one album, but obviously he’s not quite recovered as they are on their sixth album…
Currently, it seems that TBS are just two people: Bobby Wratten and Beth Arzy. Of the four songs I’ve listened to, I like the Beth Arzy song the best, it kind of reminded me of their other song Helen Reddy.
Trivia: Their name came from The Story of O by Pauline Réage:

Also, this may or may not be common knowledge but the Field Mice did the song ‘Let’s Kiss and Make Up,’ a song which I first heard when it was covered by Saint Etienne! I’ve included a link here in case anyone would like to hear it.
