Gabriel Jorgensen’s project Ancient Mariner is having their EP release concert on Sunday, June 7th.
We previously saw the band open up for Bishop Allen in 2014 and mentioned that they were featured on Communion Club Nights in December 2014.

Bands on the bill:

Ancient Mariner

Originally a solo project started by in 2011, Ancient Mariner began in the monotonous suburbs of Aurora, CO. After years of playing and writing around town, Gabriel decided to scrap all that he had written and recorded up to that point and start fresh.

Carbon Handshake

Based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Carbon Handshake are an eclectic group of indie-rockers whose latest EP, Pulp Life, was released on March 9, 2015. By employing a distinct mixture of sounds, loops, and texture, their music successfully reconciles amorphous and ethereal sonics with immediate pop sensibilities and disciplined songwriting.

We’re pretty excited to see that Best Coast is coming back to Minneapolis. We previously caught the Californian duo (Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno) at Rock the Garden 2014 and at the Cedar in 2012.

Best Coast is currently touring in support of their latest, California Nights, out now on Harvest Records.

Joining Best Coast will be Nashville’s Bully, who was previously in town with Jeff the Brotherhood in April 2015 and at SXSW 2015.

The band is fronted by producer/engineer Alicia Bognanno and from what I’ve heard from their debut album Feels Like, I quite like it! The record comes out June 23rd.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s Summer U.S. tour starts tomorrow, June 14th! The band is touring in support of II, out now via Jagjaguwar.
You may remember that we caught the Portland-based …

UNKNOWN MORTAL ORCHESTRA

at Triple Rock Social Club

Monday, 06/08/15, 7:30pm ($15/18+)

Details: triplerocksocialclub.com

Over at the Triple Rock will feature Unknown Mortal Orchestra. It’s been a while since we saw the band, previously at the Cedar in 2013 and with Liars in 2012.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s latest Multi-Love (Jagjaguwar), is about “airy, humid longing, loss, the geometry of desire that occurs when three people align”… the follow-up to their psychedelic II album.

No opening bands listed on Triple Rock’s website, but I am told that J Fernandez is opening. Fernandez’s upcoming new LP Many Levels of Laughter is coming out June 9th on Joyful Noise. The album was inspired by real things in his life … like his Russian landlord, among other things.
