Beats Antique

Beats Antique is currently in the middle of their “A Thousand Faces” tour, stopping by, on Halloween night, at Mill City Nights in Minneapolis. The show was incredible, thanks to the sold out status ….

BEATS ANTIQUE

at Skyway Theatre

Thursday, 10/06/16, 7pm ($25/$30)

One of the most amazing shows I’ve ever seen was Beats Antique in 2013 (see look at the photos!) because the band had gotten a massive flush of cash from a successful Kickstarter campaign to build one of the most impressive stage via Obscura Digital.

The band is back, this time in support of their new album Shadowbox. I’m not sure if they will continue using the Obscura Digital setup, but whatever they decide to do for this upcoming tour, it will be nothing short of amazing.

MARIAN HILL

at First Avenue

Thursday, 10/06/16, 7pm ($20)

first-avenue.com

Philadelphia electro jazz duo Marian Hill will be headlining First Avenue’s mainstage this Thursday, October 6th, this is quite an upgrade from their previous appearance at the sold out 7th Street Entry in October 2015, which we described as “The tiny 7th Street Entry venue was completely packed with young college students, in love with everything they’ve heard from Marian Hill. It was incredible to watch the entire audience grinding and swaying to their saxophone-heavy songs… which has been written is described as “sax-ual” music. I would also add in a little dubstep, grime, and electronica.”

They would have played longer at the 7th Street Entry show, but they actually ran out of songs… hopefully with their debut album Act One out now, they’ll be able to properly play a longer set.

Vérité will be one of the openers. We saw Verite (aka Kelsey Byrne) in May 2016 and noted she wrote “heartfelt electropop songs”.

Also on the bill is electropop trio Shaed, featuring twin brothers Max and Spencer Ernst and singer Chelsea Lee. The band just released their six-track debut EP Just Wanna See via Photo Finish Records.

Whitechapel

American deathcore band Whitechapel, obviously inspired by Jack the Ripper and the Whitechapel district in London, will be hitting the road this Fall, in support of Our Endless War, out now on Metal Blade.
Carnifex

While I have heard of Carnifex, I never had a chance to check out their music before. I saw that this cd was coming out and I caught the ad for it on an episode of HBB and I liked what I heard.
