Mac Miller

Mac Miller has a great song right now called ‘My Favorite Part’, which featured pop-favorites Adriana Grande singing duet with Miller. The song is taken from his new album The Divine Feminine (Warner Bros. Records).

Mac Miller’s sold out show at First Avenue took place last week, October 25th.

Set by ClockworkDJ and Lakim (billed as Soulection) opened up the show. Since both were DJ sets, so they mostly stayed behind their laptops… occasionally speaking into the mics. The music never really stops, and one song medley into another. Fans who showed up early to the show were more than happy to dance to the beat.

Mac Miller began his music career with his Blue Slide Park album on Pittsburgh-based label Rostrum Records. The album debut at #1 on the US Billboard 200 chart, which is absolutely unheard of for an indie record. In fact, it is the first independent album to hit #1 since Tha Dogg Pound’s Dogg Food in 1995.

In 2013, Miller launched his label REMember Music, which is currently in association with Warner Bros. Records, for his latest
The Divine Feminine
.

Almost every song on the record featured special guests, including Ariana Grande, Bilal, Anderson Paak, Ty Dolla Sign, Njomza, CeeLo Green… basically some of the hottest rappers and singers in the business right now. With that said, it’s easy to see why the record received overwhelmingly positive reviews and entered the Billboard 200 charts at #2 (understandably beneath Drake’s highly anticipated album Views).

A DJ, standing above everyone in a custom podium, would be the hype-man or supply the music (and sometime prerecorded audio recordings) when required. Mac Miller only needed a microphone to do his magic. The audience sang back all the popular songs. It’s unlike anything you’ll ever see, over one thousand fans singing and dancing in tune with Miller.

The new songs went over well with the audience, including ‘Dang!’ and the set closer ‘God Is Fair, Sexy, Nasty’.

Mac Miller’s new album The Divine Feminine is out now.
