Neo-soul band Durand Jones & The Indications is returning to 7th Street Entry this Tuesday, April 9th. The show is sold out.
We caught the group in April 2018 and said, “Neo soul needs a new champion- we miss Sharon Jones, Charles Bradley, and locally Sonny Knight – all older stalwarts given a musical rebirth later in life, in careers that made them more popular than ever, but unfortunately all lost recent health battles and are no longer with us. Thankfully, some in the younger generation have picked up that torch to continue on, mixing the timeless traditions of classic soul, with a nod to today’s climate and sounds- enter Durand Jones and the Indications.”

Yeah, you know we love Helium, so we’ve been following Mary Timony’s career for a while. Her latest project is Ex Hex and we’re excited to hear that the group will be back in town on Friday, April 12th at the Turf Club.
We saw the band in July 2015 and said, “As expected with bands with only one album, the trio played their entire album live… but throwing in a cover or two to stretch out the time for a full set. Most of the songs were sung by Timony, except Wright took over two songs on their set: “How You Got That Girl” and “Radio On”.”
