English band Ten Fé (translated as “Have Faith” from Spanish) recently headlined the 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis on Sunday, March 31st, in support of their cleverly named sophomore album Future Perfect, Present Tense (Some Kinda Love/PIAS).
Opening the show was local band Graveyard Club. We first saw the band in Sep 2014, at the now-defunct Triple Rock Social Club, and wrote that they played a “handful of spooky synth-laced gems and featured main duo Matthew Schufman (vocals/keyboard) and Michael Wojtalewicz (guitarist) alongside newer members Cory Jacobs on drums and Amanda Zimmerman on bass.”
The band’s music and theme hasn’t changed, they’re still into writing songs about gravedigging, “Witchcraft” (the first song on their set), and other delightful, frightful bumps in the night.
The band ended their 30-min set with “Death Proof”.
London duo Ten Fé (Leo Duncan and Ben Moorhouse) is touring for Future Perfect, Present Tense, an uplifting album, with influences from Patti Smith, and apparently, the Waterboys (based on their intro song, “The Whole Of The Moon”). Singing duties fell on either Leo or Ben, and the two are supported by a full live backing touring band: Rob Shipley, Johnny Drain and Alex Hammond.
We’ve been covering the Minneapolis-area for a long time, and I believe this is the band’s first time in Minneapolis. I could be wrong, as the band was previously known as Fé and came on the music scene in 2013. After moving to Berlin, Germany, the two changed their name to Ten Fé and worked on their debut record, Hit The Light, with producer Ewan Pearson.
Fans that came out to check out the English band was in for a treat, as Future Perfect, Present Tense is a fantastic album and worth hearing it played live. And possibly their first Minneapolis appearance, it’ll probably be the first time we get to hear some Hit the Light songs played as well.
