GRAMMY Award-nominated, Multi-Platinum-certified artist Gayle (stylized as GAYLE) is currently on tour, stopping by the Amsterdam Bar and Hall, in St Paul.

Opening the show was one of UK’s hottest pop talent, Dylan. Originally, Dylan was supposed to kick off our Rocktober, on October 1, 2023, at 7th Street Entry… but unfortunately, she had to reschedule the show for next year (on April 9, 2024), for her Rebel Child tour.

Dylan played some songs off her album, including “Every Heart But Mine”, “Treat You Bad”, and my personal favorite, “You’re Not Harry Styles.” The latter is a song about Dylan’s ex-boyfriend, about how he thinks he looks like Harry Styles.

Dylan’s new song, “Rebel Child”, is the first song that is truly about herself, as she mentioned, “I basically wanted my own theme tune – my main character moment.”

“Gen-Z”er Gayle closed out the all-ages show. She’s dressed in fishnet stockings, with black underwear, and an oversized T-Shirt with a picture of a butt with a tattoo that says “Gayle”.

She was so happy to see various Gayle shirts in the audience. This is because they’ve been touring in and out, and her loyal fanbase would support her from various shows.

The highlight of the show was her interaction with her fans. She got a cat sticker for her guitar, and while talking to her fans, she found out that two of them had November 1st as their birthdays… so she had everyone sing “Happy Birthday to You” to the two girls.

A couple of covers on her set. One of them was Pink’s “Get the Party Started.” Gayle probably paid tribute Pink because the pop star asked Gayle to be her special guest in the UK on Pink’s Summer Carnival 2023.

Another cover is “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll”, the original song is by British band The Arrows… but it was evident that it was a tribute to Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, who popularized the song in the early 80s.

Of course, Gayle saved her biggest hit song, “ABCDEFU”, as the set finale. The major-label single reach #1 in the UK and Ireland, and topped the charts in various countries, thanks its catchy music and fun lyrics.
