CocoRosie

Sister duo CocoRosie (Bianca and Sierra Casady) recently released a brand new song called “Least I Have You.” The sisters are currently, in the studio, they are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year and beginning a new era.

“Up until this song, we used to take our pain out on each other,” says Sierra. “Until we allowed our sisterhood to become the antidote to the damage that came in our younger years.” The song, Bianca adds, came “just in a simple way.” “It’s vulnerable. It’s cute. It’s cliche. It’s all these things I don’t think we would have been able to approach in the past.”

CocoRosie recently re-issued their breakout album La Maison de Mon Reve and wrapped up their international tour in April with pianist Gael Rakotondrabe.

Hopefully, they’ll be back in Minneapolis for their 20th (or rather 21st in 2025) anniversary. We last saw them in Oct 2013 and noted, “It’s been a long time the sisters Bianca (Coco) and Sierra (Rosie) Casady stopped by Minneapolis, and thanks to the Walker Art and the Cedar, they were able to bring them here. But just before the show, it was announced Busdriver was not opening up the show, leaving CocoRosie to start their set incredibly early at 8:15pm. So, no one was expecting Busdriver, yet, somehow, between CocoRosie’s set, the rapper made a surprise entrance and sat on the throne.”

Kate Nash
katenash.com

It’s hard to believe that it’s been six years since British indiepop songstress Kate Nash toured the U.S., but it’s true. Nash started gaining fame around 2007 for her trenchant lyrics and super-catchy piano and guitar-inflected songs about shitty boyfriends, sad crushes, and the general perils of young adulthood. She’s grown musically and otherwise since then, dabbled in rock and punk and electropop, and has five albums to her discography, including 9 Sad Symphonies, released this summer on the lauded Kill Rock Stars label. Her live shows should be plenty of fun for singalongs and dancing to relatable topics about navigating love, feminism, and music with panache.
