One day or weekend events of note

First up is Grand Old Day in Saint Paul, coming up quickly on June 1st; details at grandave.com and it’s good to have this event back.

Later in June, on the weekend of the 14-15th, is the Stone Arch Bridge Festival in Minneapolis. They’ve yet to announce the music acts, but you can find out more at stonearchbridgefestival.com as they update soon.

Officially June 20-21st, but with unofficial events on the 19th and 22nd, the Twin Cities Jazz Fest is another annual event. This takes place at multiple locations including Mears Park, Berlin, Crooners Supper Club and others. Learn more at twincitiesjazzfestival.com but note that some events in the Thursday and Sunday may have cover charges.

Music series of note

Minneapolis Music in the Parks is an incredibly full schedule across eight locations in Minneapolis from Lake Harriet Bandshell to Bryant Square Park. The full schedule can be found at minneapolisparks.organd events have already begun.

In Saint Paul, the Como Lakeside Pavillion Summer Concert Series is very similar to Minneapolis Music in the Parks. You can find the full schedule of events at dockandpaddle.comand is already in full swing.

Lowertown Sounds hosts an annual music series in Mears Park in downtown St. Paul with some of the best bands in the Twin Cities. This year kicks off on June 12th with Flamin’ Oh’s and ends in mid-August with Yam Haus. Find out more at lowertownsounds.com but this is a pretty special series.

Lastly, local radio station The Current hosts The Current’s Happy Hours series. This has the largest geographical spread, with shows in Rochester, St. Joseph, and even one in Fargo! However, most are in the Twin Cities, with the kickoff being Thursday, May 29th at Nine Mile Brewing in Bloomington, with Seattle band Deep Sea Diver performing at 6pm. Find out more at thecurrent.org … and we will try to get to some of these shows.
