elbow at First Avenue (Oct 7, 2025)
elbow’s North American tour kicks off September 26, and will head over to First Avenue, in Minneapolis, on October 7, 2025. This is the first time the band has returned to the US shores since 2020. The band’s Audio Vertigo Echo elbow EP5 is out now.

You guys already know what a big fan I am of Grandaddy, and they’re on their 25th Anniversary of ‘Sophtware Slump’ tour… stopping by First Avenue, in Minneapolis, on October 8, 2025.
Grandaddy at First Avenue (May 9, 2001)
I saw the group on the original Sophtware Slump tour (as well as ealier) in May 2001 and noted, “A year later, as you can see from my ticketstub for their headlining First Avenue show on May 9, 2001, the band had sold out the 1,500-capacity venue. Virgil Shaw opened the show. I wish, back then, I would’ve paid more attention to taking notes or other mementos to help remember the shows.”

Southern Resident Killer Whales at Padraigs Brewing

Minneapolis-based craft pop/alt-rock quartet Southern Resident Killer Whales will be playing Padraigs Brewing on October 10, 2025. The band is led by Dan Hylton, and we last mentioned them in July 2016, so it’s been a while.

Bob Mould is back in town, and he’ll be doing a few nights in Minneapolis as part of his Solo Electric: Here We Go Crazy tour. The first night will be at the Icehouse on Friday, October 10, 2025.
